 About the Principal

Jenny has been learning, performing and teaching for as long as she can remember. At the age of 3, she began Physical Culture classes taking part in annual competitions. This continued on for 7 years, until she came across the local dance school at the age of 9 – then known as The Variety Stage School with Miss Lesley. The excitement of dance classes took over and Physical Culture became a thing of the past.

During her younger years, Jenny covered numerous genres, including jazz, tap, Irish and Scottish, modern expressive and ballet. There were many Eisteddfods to compete in, exams to practise for, shopping centre shows, fashion parades, festivals, fetes, carols by candlelight’s and end of year concerts to perform in.

As a teenager Jenny was given the opportunity to become a student teacher. Whilst at this studio Jenny was co-taught by Peter Oxford who is now the director of Dance Idol and the Showcase National Dance Championships. Jenny left this studio at the age of 23 and continued  taking classes in jazz / funk, ballet, contemporary and tap.

Jenny has studied various dance syllabi including; FATD, RAD and ATOD.
She has been working with young children for over 15 years and has a Certificate III in Children's Services and a current 1st Aid certificate.

Step In Time was established in 2002 and is a dream come true. Starting with only 11 students the studio has grown over the years and continues to be a very friendly place for young students to realise their potential as a performer.

As part of her ongoing professional developement Jenny has attended workshops with choreographers such as William Forsyth, Fiona Gage, Kelly Abbey, Glenn Wood and the ATOD 2009 & 2010 syllabus workshops.
Jenny flew to the USA in July 2010 to take classes at the Broadway Dance Center in New York City.

Jenny also attended the 'Come Together Dance Convention' in Melbourne in October 2009 where she participated in the Rhee Gold workshops. Rhee is publisher of Dance studio Life magazine USA and is a highly respected industry leader.
An inspiring aspect of this trip was meeting Li Cunxin and Justine Summers. Li is the author of Mao's Last Dancer and former Principal Dancer in the Beijing Ballet and Justine Summers is a former principal of the Australian Ballet. Jenny also had the privilage of attending an open day at the Australian Ballet School.

Jenny has been a dedicated member of Holroyd Musical and Dramatic Society, since 1996. Favourite roles include ‘The Wicked Queen’ in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs the pantomime, ‘Cinderella’ in Cinderella the pantomime, ‘Giggling Gertie’ in Oklahoma the musical, ‘Diane’ in Big the musical, The NSW Premier and Soul Girl in Jesus Christ Superstar. Jenny has also choreographed for the Holroyd Musical and Dramatic Society and served on their committee.

Singing has also been a big part of life as a dancer. Jenny has been given many opportunities to choreograph, sing and perform at Australia Day events. Other public performances include the Small Business Awards and The Sydney Sings Spectacular with the Beethoven Society of Australia at Sydney Town Hall.

Jenny is totally dedicated to providing stimulating and challenging learning environments for her students and looks forward to the future of Step In Time Talent Studio.
